It has been a busy year..
I hadn’t realised how long it had been since I posted on the blog. I’ve had a go at Twitter and that is very useful for concentrating the mind in short bursts – but I still haven’t found my voice on it. This short video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=livzJTIWlmY reminded me why I started to blog in the first place. It wasn’t because I wanted to be read by the world – it was way of ordering and documenting my thoughts. The issue I have with both Twitter and Blogs is getting the balance right. Should I be personal or stick to business? Or can I do both? I guess if I write for myself it doesn’t matter – but if I am putting it where it can be read, I can’t be too self indulgent.
Anyway, fingers crossed, things are settling down. I have had a lot of experience over that last 8 months of hospitals, carers and the dangers of not paying attention to medication. It is amazing what a difference the right pill can make – and it is also scary how careful you have to be to ensure that if you are seeing a lot of different doctors, you keep a ‘holistic’ eye on what they are doing as they really don’t work together. The ultimate example of silo’d working – with potentially fatal consequences. Fortunately, you can challenge the silos if you are sufficiently motivated (i.e. no sleep for 3 months). But that is still 3 unnecessary months of suffering and a long recovery period for an elderly person whose quality of life is already compromised.
Lots of lessons learned – life is knowledge management in action!
